What's new on MagicListe?

A loved one can change their mind, without going through you

When someone clicks “I'll give the whole gift” and then changes their mind, they can withdraw from your list themselves. You get an email, and the group gift reopens just as it was.

• “I'm no longer covering this” appears on the card, for whoever had committed
• you get an email telling you — no more finding out by chance
• the group gift reopens exactly as before: your guests can chip in again, or give it in full
• and as long as someone has pledged money, the gift stays locked: nobody can reopen it

Every gift shows where it really stands

Someone committing to give a big gift on their own is not a purchase yet. The whole list now says so.

• a gift claimed in full shows as pending, not in green as “gifted”: the order hasn't been placed yet
• your list's counters say “claimed” — which is true — instead of “gifted”
• the email you receive uses the right word too
• deleting such a gift no longer claims to erase “the record of that purchase”: there isn't one
• and when someone is about to order, your list reminds you to add a delivery address

Paste links: several at once, with no waiting

Got ten store tabs open? Paste them all at once into the add field: we spot the links and add them one by one.

• no more waiting: while we fetch the title, price and photo, you can already paste the next link
• the store's name shows while we search — and if it's slow to answer, we say so instead of leaving you with a frozen screen
• if a link comes back empty — some stores block us — you get three buttons: type the title and price yourself, try again, or drop it
• when you paste a batch, links already on your list are set aside, and we tell you
• from your phone, the “Share” button in a store app or Instagram sends the product straight into your list
• and on desktop, the Chrome extension is offered right under the field, exactly when it would save you time

Group gifts say where they stand

On bigger gifts, the group gift now shows more clearly where it stands — and what's left to raise.

• “I'll give the whole thing”, for the guest who wants to take the gift alone
• the first names of those who already chipped in appear under the gift: your guests can see they're not going first
• when the goal is close, a nudge shows what's left — “Only €35 to go!”
• a group gift that just started is no longer counted as an already-given gift in your list's progress
• an empty group gift explains what it is, instead of showing “€0 collected” under an empty bar
• if you correct a gift's price, its group gift target follows
• group gifts start from €100, and the site explains why

Chip in without picking a gift

A guest would rather let you choose, or arrives when everything is taken? You can switch on free contributions: they send you an amount without picking from the list. The money goes straight to you — MagicListe never receives it.

No more nasty surprises on your gifts

Deleting, correcting, cancelling: your list now tells you what each action will change, before you do it.

• deleting a gift that's reserved, already given, or that people have pledged money towards asks for confirmation, and spells out what it would erase
• a guest clicked “I'll give the whole thing” by mistake? You can put the gift back on the list — do tell them, we can't let them know for you
• an email lets you know if a guest cancels their reservation
• switching a gift to a group gift can no longer erase a reservation silently
• “Details” becomes “Your note”: more room, and a counter to keep track

A list page that's nicer and easier to read

The page your loved ones discover has been reworked: more room to breathe, your photo given pride of place, and readable text throughout.

• the header was rebuilt: your photo is showcased, and the gifts move up
• your image shows in full, without being cropped
• a welcome message with real room — up to 600 characters, and past a few lines it folds behind “Read more” so it doesn't push the gifts down
• every piece of text on your list was reworked to clear the readability bar, gold wording included

What used to get stuck, and doesn't any more

A few blockers reported by parents, fixed this month.

• store links work from Messenger, Facebook and Instagram, where the web opens in a window with no tabs
• opening your list from the home page is much faster: the page gets ready in advance
• the delivery address goes out with the confirmation email
• when a store blocks us from reading its page, we try a second time before giving up: many stubborn addresses now add themselves

The Magic Button, even faster

The Magic Button is still the heart of MagicListe: paste a product link from any store — on mobile or desktop — and we pull in the title, price and photo for you. New: on desktop, a Chrome and Edge extension adds it straight from the product page, without even copying the link.

Your loved ones keep a record of what they reserved

When someone reserves a gift, they can leave their email and get a summary of what they're giving you right away, with a link that takes them back to their reservation from any phone or computer — to change their mind, or confirm the purchase later.

• the message field already suggests a ready-made line, matched to the occasion — baby, wedding or birthday
• you'll find that message on the gift card in your edit page; it never shows on the list your guests see
• if they come back to your list later, they'll find the gifts they already reserved, marked with their name

No more blank page before the store

Clicking to give a gift used to open an empty tab while the reservation saved. Now a page appears: it confirms “Reserved in your name”, tells you which store you're headed to, then takes you there. A button lets you go straight away.

Manage your list together

Preparing this list as a couple? Invite the other person by email: they add and edit gifts alongside you, with no account to create — for either of you.

• you can see whether the invitation was opened, and send it again
• since August, they get the same emails you do — reservations, group gift pledges
• an expired invitation explains what to do, instead of leading nowhere

Your list's name and address, your choice

You can now choose your list's address, and change it whenever you like — even after sharing it. Links you've already sent keep working; they redirect to the new address on their own.

• while creating your list, you watch the link write itself under the field as you type the name
• a unique code stays at the end of the address: that's what keeps your list private and impossible to guess
• your edit page now shows the same name your guests see — “our baby” until you fill in a first name, instead of “Baby registry”
• and your list's link moves up right under the title, instead of hiding in the Share section

Our gift ideas stay on screen

The idea strip no longer vanishes after the first add: it stays on your edit page while you fill your list, and “See more ideas” offers four fresh ones. Every idea was checked one by one — the right product page, and its price noted by hand. Baby registries for now.

An “About” page explains why the service exists, how it pays for itself, and what it will never do with your data. You'll find it at the bottom of every page.

Our emails have a new look

The logo shows up like it does on the site, messages stay readable if your inbox is in dark mode, and the layout no longer sprawls in Outlook. In your inbox, each email now sums itself up in one line, instead of just the word “MagicListe”.

MagicListe is now in English

The whole site is now available in English, emails included. Perfect for sharing your list with English-speaking friends and family. You can switch language at the bottom of the page.

Lists for any occasion

MagicListe is no longer just for births: you can now create lists for weddings, birthdays or any other event. The form and the interface adapt to the type you choose.

Change the type after creating

Created a baby registry but it was actually a wedding? You can now change the event type after creating the list, from the edit page.

"Details" field on gifts

Add a note to each gift: size, colour, model. Anything that helps your friends and family pick the right one.

More reliable prices when adding

Price extraction when you add a gift is now more accurate. When the system isn't sure, it flags it so you can double-check.

The blog is live

We're publishing our first articles to help you prepare your list: tips, gift ideas, lessons learned. First article: "When to start your baby registry".

Add gifts manually

Product link not working? You can now add it by hand by entering the title and price directly.

Delete a list

Created a duplicate list or one by mistake? You can now delete it from the edit page.

IBAN accepted for group gifts

You can paste your IBAN directly into the payment field. Your friends and family will have the details to send you their contribution.

Must-have gifts

Mark certain gifts as "must-have" to point your friends and family toward what matters most. They appear at the top of the list with a gold badge.

Baby's name now optional

Haven't picked a name yet? Create your list now and add it later.

More reliable images

Images from some shops (La Redoute, Amazon) didn't always show up. That's now fixed.
